The apartment building is a reinforced concrete slab construction with core filled reinforced block work for support. A post tensioned podium slab was designed to deal with the structural transfer between apartments and the carpark below.
The Apartment are designed so that each unit controls its own hot water and air conditioning. However, the electrical and communications services are centrally provided. Circulation spaces in Newstead Terrace are naturally lit and ventilated so power use is reduced.
Dynamic timber floors was asked to supply and install hardwood pre-finished floors for several of the Newstead terrace apartments. The company offers a range of flooring styles including the 70mm wide by 10mm boards shown here and a 127mm by 20mm version for a broader planked floor.
